Tired again. I'm almost tired of being tired. Last night of our revival services and I'm relieved. Daycare run tomorrow and Friday, though, so that means up at 4 a.m. I'm sleeping in on Saturday!

Tired, Just Plain Tired

Poor sleep a few nights in a row and early risings have worn me out. Of course it always happens on the busiest weeks, too. Every single day/night this week, except for Friday, there is someone to go, something to do. I don't wish my life away, but boy I'll be glad when Friday gets here. I think I'm going to bed as early as possible tonight. Too bad it can't be now! LOL

Sundays are busy days

Sundays are busy days. Church in the morning and early evening take a chunk and I also like to prepare some food, both for today and for the busy days in the upcoming week.

Today, I'm going to cook a prime rib the Alton Brown method, in a clay pot. It's my favorite way to make prime rib. The roast will develop a nice crust on the exterior, yet the medium rare level and be achieved, too. We don't have prime rib often (usually only at Christmas), but it was on sale, marked down even, and was too good a deal to pass up.

What would be good with it? I'm thinking roasted asparagus and maybe potatoes. While that's roasting I'm going to make some Swiss Steak and a chicken casserole. The upcoming week's dinners will be a snap to put on the table when I get in from work.

Do you plan or prepare foods ahead? What a timesaver!

Rainy Saturdays

Raining this morning, but I'm grateful. After the drought of the century (well, I think it was!) we need the moisture.

Saturday chores will consume the day and I hope to spend some time in my sewing room. I want to start on my next project, a memory quilt for my DH. Maybe a quick run to the local quilt store to see if the black Kona cotton has arrived yet. Setting the quilt on a black background should showcase the pictures particularly well, I think.

A day at home, rain, hobbies and relaxation Sounds like a plan!

Where have all the daffodils gone?

Wow, another cold day here in Alabama. Last year I saw the first daffodils blooming in mid January. Since I was a child, seeing the daffodils bloom along the roadside has always been my marker for realizing I've made it through the winter. It's like God sent a little bit of sunshine that I could actually pick, put in my kitchen and brighten up not only my house, but my spirits. I think, even though it's cold today, I'll take a walk and see if I can spot them sprouting. There's always hope!
